Code-X is a free Claris FileMaker Developer Tool that lets you restrict features within your own demo Claris FileMaker Solutions and unlocking them for paying customers with license codes.

So what can you do with Code-X?

  • Add 30-day trial periods

  • Restrict features within your demo solutions

  • Limit the number of records unregistered users can create

  • Limit the number of users that can use your solution

  • Create different tiered licenses such as Basic and Pro

  • Add nag dialogs to prompt unregistered users to register

  • Lock your paid solution to a device to prevent piracy

  • Generate and issue license codes that unlock your FileMaker solutions for paying customers

So what exactly is Code-X?

Code-X is a set of Claris FileMaker scripts and custom functions that you can easily incorporate into your own Claris FileMaker solutions. You can use Code-X to distribute locked down demo versions of your Claris FileMaker solutions, and issue license codes to paying customers that unlock your solution.

Code-X comes with Code Generator, a Claris FileMaker database you can use to keep tack of the license codes you distribute to your paying customers. Code Generator is open source so you’re free to modify it as you see fit.

Code-X is relatively easy to implement and you can be up and running within minutes. We even offer our services and can build it for you if you would like to delegate your work load.

Code-X comes with a bunch of examples that show you how you can protect your own solutions – such as 30-day trials, limit number of users, limit record creation, restrict certain features, lock solution to device etc.
